JOB PURPOSE (ROLE) | |||
The Procurement Manager is responsible is Lead and oversee strategic procurement operations to support Miale Solar’s renewable energy projects. Responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and securing timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services while aligning procurement plans with project timelines and organizational goals.. | |||
FUNCTIONS | |||
– Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans aligned with project and business needs – Lead negotiations with local and international suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing – Oversee procurement of solar components including modules, inverters, structures, cables, and related equipment – Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier capabilities to mitigate procurement risks – Aggregate material demand across projects to leverage economies of scale – Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure alignment between procurement plans and technical specifications – Optimize procurement costs across project BoQs and advise on value-engineering opportunities – Establish supplier performance metrics and conduct regular evaluations to ensure quality and reliability – Manage end-to-end procurement processes from sourcing to delivery and documentation – Maintain optimal inventory levels to support continuous operations without overstocking – Integrate procurement workflows into ERP systems to streamline operations and enhance tracking – Enforce procurement policies, ensure compliance, and drive process improvements – Prepare and manage procurement budgets, ensuring accurate cost forecasting and reporting – Resolve supplier issues and delivery challenges to minimize project disruptions – Maintain comprehensive procurement records including contracts, purchase orders, and delivery documentation – Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate invoicing and payment reconciliation – Support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain and procurement function | |||
ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND MINIMUM EXPERIENCE | |||
– Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field – Professional Certification in Procurement/Supply Chain – e.g., CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply), CPSP-K (Certified Procurement and Supply Professional of Kenya), or equivalent – Minimum 5–7 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a similar role in the energy, construction, or infrastructure sectors – Proven track record in international and local supplier negotiation, sourcing, and contract management – Strong knowledge of supply chain risks, import/export logistics, and customs compliance Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or industry-specific tools) Working knowledge of procurement laws and regulations applicable in Kenya and international trade practices | |||
