Job Summary:
Miale Solar, a leading solar Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company, is
seeking a dedicated and experienced Procurement Assistant to join our team. The
Procurement Assistant will report directly to the Procurement Officer and will be responsible
for the provision of accurate and timely assistance in administration of the procurement
process, in compliance with the Procurement Act and Regulations.
Responsibilities:
● Vendor Management: You will be in charge of finding, assessing, and managing
relationships with vendors and suppliers who offer solar-related components and
supplies, as well as negotiating advantageous terms and conditions.
● Procurement: Identify and source cables, mounting structures, batteries, inverters,
solar panels, and other supplies needed for solar energy projects while guaranteeing
their quality and affordability.
● Inventory management: Control stock levels, monitor inventory, and guarantee that
necessary resources are available while reducing excess inventory and related
expenses.
● Risk management: Determine any hazards in the supply chain and create backup
strategies to lessen them, such finding different suppliers.
● Order processing: Oversee purchase orders, monitor delivery, and work with
suppliers to guarantee items arrive on schedule.
● Quality Assurance: Verify that all components and materials acquired fulfill
company and industry quality requirements.
● Cost Control: Create and put into action strategic plans to lower procurement
expenses, negotiate over terms and prices, and look for ways to cut costs without
compromising reliability or quality.

● Compliance: Make sure that all legal and regulatory obligations, particularly those
pertaining to safety and the environment, are met in relation to supply chain
management and procurement.
● Forecasting and Budgeting: Contribute to long-term procurement planning and
help create and oversee the departmental budget.
● Documentation: Keep systematic records of all contracts, supplier agreements, and
procurement-related actions.
● Teamwork: To guarantee that procurement operations are in line with project
timelines and financial goals, cooperate with other departments, including project
management, engineering, and finance.
● Market Research: Be sufficiently updated on industry trends, new solar
technologies, and emerging suppliers to inform procurement decisions and drive
innovation.
Qualifications and Experience:
● Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management / Business Management from
a recognized Institution (Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business,
or a related field is an advantage)
● Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the
solar or renewable energy industry.
● Strong negotiation and communication skills.
● Knowledge of solar energy components and technology.
● Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
● Analytical and problem-solving skills.
● 2 years of service in a comparable position from a reputable organization
● Understanding of sustainability and environmental considerations in procurement.
● Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in the solar industry.
● Detail-oriented and highly organized.
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
● Member of Kenya Institute of Supply Management
